Dr. Konstantinos Vougas holds a Molecular Biology degree from the University of Portsmouth, UK and a Ph.D. from the Medical School of the University of Athens. He has been the Lead Staff Research Scientist (Associate Professor Level) of the Proteomics Core Facility of the Biomedical Research Foundation of the Academy of Athens since 2015. Dr. Vougas is actively involved in big-data mining and artificial intelligence research. In 2010 he won the international Innocentive crowd-sourcing competition (No: 9231572) entitled “Predictive Data Analysis” where his solution delivered the best predictive model among 1200 teams on a challenge to integrate and use gene expression levels and mutation status to predict phenotypic traits. He currently develops AI systems to predict response to the treatment of oncological patients based on their molecular profile. He has been a guest speaker at many Greek and International conferences. He is also a reviewer in many scientific journals. His published work, consisting of 45 publications in international journals, has received 910 references (h-index 19).
Professor Vassilis Gorgoulis is an MD graduate and PhD holder from the Medical School, National Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece. He is an active Molecular Pathologist. Currently he is Director of the Department of Histology – Embryology, Medical School, National Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece and head of the Molecular Carcinogenesis Group (MCG). He is also Adjunct Professor in the Biomedical Research Foundation, Academy of Athens and an elected Honorary Professor, at the Institute of Cancer Sciences, University of Manchester. Since 2015, he is a member in the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO). His main research interests focus on oncogenic pathways and anti-tumor responses, and particularly on the role of genomic instability in cancer development. Prof Gorgoulis has 233 publications in highly ranked international peer-reviewed journals and more than 14.000 citations, (h index: 52). He’s international recognition counts numerous invitations as key note speaker in international conferences, seminars etc.

Mr. Evangelos Mitsianis holds a Computer Engineer degree from University of Thessaly and a Msc. degree in Machine Learning from National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Currently, he is Ph.D. candidate of National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in Informatics and Telecommunications department. Also, he serve as research associate in big-data team of Self-evolving Cognitive and Autonomic Networking Lab (Scan-Lab). Mr. Mitsianis main research interests are focus in designing reliable, fast and power-aware artificial intelligence and big-data applications, using cutting edge technologies. Specifically, he is interested in algorithms and computational methods used in Data Science, Machine learning and Deep Learning for Image Analysis, Audio-Speech recognition, and Video scene recognition.
Archimidis Angelopoulos recently received his bachelor’s degree from the Department of Informatics at Athens University of economics and business. He has experience in developing Java and Android applications, Database Management Systems (DBMS) Statistical Computing and Software Engineering. He has worked as a volunteer at the Biomedical Research Foundation of the Academy of Athens (BRFAA).
Dr Emmanuel Raptakis has been working in the scientific instrumentation industry for more than 20 years, building innovative mass spectrometers since his PhD at the University of Warwick in the 90’s. His professional experience spans from engineering and senior management positions at large multinational corporations (Shimadzu), to founding two very dynamic and innovative start-ups: Fasmatech Science and Technology in Athens Greece and ASTA UK Ltd in Manchester UK. His skillset, enhanced by a Manchester Business School MBA, include hardware and software development, product management, medical devices, strategic management of innovation and building and managing highly effective, multi-disciplinary teams. He currently works to advance the use of mass spectrometry into clinical diagnostics.
Professor Paul Townsend is a leading expert in cancer biology and molecular cell biology from the University of Manchester where he is Professor of Molecular Cell Biology in the Division of Cancer Sciences, Associate Dean of Business Engagement and International Research in the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health. He has published >130 papers, has an H score of 40 and a career research income of >£11m. Professor Townsend’s research group has wide expertise in drug discovery, validation, cell stress and survival mechanisms, senescence, DNA damage, and multiple ‘omics’ in cancer biology, cardioprotection and apoptosis regulation.
Dr. Tsirigos is an Associate Professor of Pathology and Director of the Applied Bioinformatics Laboratories at the NYU School of Medicine. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Courant Institute of New York University in January 2006, and his B.S. from the National Technical University of Athens, Greece in 1998. Dr. Tsirigos has more than 15 years experience in genomics and machine learning at NYU and IBM Research. His research focus is primarily in cancer epigenetics and AI-based diagnostics for cancer, cardiovascular and other diseases. In pioneering studies, Dr. Tsirigos and his collaborators have elucidated the role of epigenetic modulators and non-coding RNAs in acute leukemia. He has 56 publications in highly ranked international peer-reviewed journals and more than 5000 citations, (h-index=33; i10-index=45).
